Areas of expertise
I am a palaeoanthropologist specialising in human evolution. My research focuses on the discovery and description of new Upper and Middle Pleistocene Eurasian human fossils, and on the definition and understanding (causes, consequences) of their bone and dental variability, with a strong emphasis on the Neanderthal lineage and that of the first anatomically modern humans. I am also researching the mortuary and burial behaviour of humans in the past as cannibalism or primary burials
