Areas of expertise
I am an archaeologist interested on historical territories and landscapes regardless period or geographical location. I obtained my BA in History in University of Salamanca, and moved to University of Cantabria in order to obtain a PhD in 2012. My dissertation focused on the territory of the Roman city of Segisamo. Since 2008 I have conducted different projects at the place including field survey, geophysics, aerial archaeoligy, and excavation of the Late Iron Age oppidum and in the Roman camps whic sieged the hillfort. Once I finished my PhD I started a strong collaboration with Universities from Belgium and The Netherlands as a postdoctoral researcher which last until the present-day. This collaboration allowed me to work in other interesting areas for my research as Marche, Molise and Basilicata in Italy. Furthemore, as a recognised expert in field survey approaches and methodology I also joined other projects as research staff, as the ongoing Networks Across Oceania, leaded bty Konstanz University, which implemented a field survey in the abandoned island of Alofi (Wallis et Futuna). More recently I also participated in the Tipasa archaeological project, which is a collaboration between University of Murcia and Tipasa University. In that place we conduced research in an area with two UNESCO sites, the ancient city of Tipasa and the mausoleum of Juba II and Cleopatra Selene. Currently, I am working at the Archaeological Institute of Mérida (CSIC-Spanish National Research Council). I am the PI of the project entitled Re-ROM Resilience and Romanization. This projects consist on a geospatial study of the territory of Augusta Emerita's hintherland (the capital of Roman Lusitania). This project is linked to other innitiatives such as the Fronteira Landscape Project (Royal Dutch Institute in Rome), the Site catalogue of Estremoz (Universidade de Évora). I am a member of several European institutions as the International Society for Archaeological Prospection, the Aerial Archaeology Research Group, the European Association of Archaeologist. I am editor of the Mytra series, and of Ex Novo Journal of Archaeology.
